Alkali Fins
Designing, testing and refining surf concepts is what Ellis Ericson lives for. The Ellis Twin was designed in 2016. Elevated by his time with George Greenough, Ellis adjusted fin templates and foils to find the ideal setup for his twin fin boards. After a run of great swell on the North Coast, the Ellis Twin was the result. The fin became one of our most popular( and often sold out) models, making it impossible to retire.
Feedback is always positive from people who ride the Ellis Twin and goes along the lines of “fast, loose and incredibly fun.” Extended base area allows drive in an otherwise smallish twin and provides a sweet spot in the tail for foot adjustment. Upright rake and low tip area result in speed, tight arcs and less resistance through turns.
The base area provides more of A 70/30 foil gives control through the transition of turns, allowing the water to grip both sides of the fin. This maximizes stall time before cavitation and eases back into drive after tail slides. Inspired by the tail fins of Swordfish and Marlin – the harder you push, the better these fins go.
